we learned about privacy and public
privacy is the quality or state of being apart from company or observation and seclusion : freedom from unauthorized intrusion(one's right to privacy. and i knew that public and private correlate. rightly, public contains privacy. because, to privacy, we give up public. to public, we give up privacy. for example, the surveillance.
surveilance is that close watch kept over someone or something. surveilance's etymology is that French, from surveiller to watch over, from sur- + veiller to watch, from Latin vigilare, from vigil watchful.
and about surveilance, Benjamin Franklin is said that they that can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety deserve neither liberty nor safety. this is, prove relationship privacy and public. in other word, privacy give up some public.
today's surveillance technology is developed in the past. for example, Viisage & superbowl XXXV.
especially, the company viisage, biometrics base united the preservation of public peace, show us high-level technologies of surveillance. and we learned about surveillance model and capture model.
Surveillance model is built upon visual metaphors and derives from historical experiences of secret police surveillance. Versus, Capture model is built upon linguistic metaphors and takes as its prototype the deliberate reorganization of industrial work activities to allow computers to track them in real time.
privacy and public relationship, Lawrence Lessing is said that an inefficiency that makes it harder for these technologies to be misused. Life where less is monitored is a life more private and life where less can (legally perhaps)be searched is also a life more private.
and we learned about date mining.
goals of data mining is that toward the generation of rules for the classification of objects. and discriminating, or distinguishing between two related, but meaningfully distinct classes.
types of data mining are descriptive and predictive. descriptive is compute a relatively concise, description of a large data set.
predictive is predict unknown values for a variable for one or more known variables.
and data mining tasks are regression, classification, clustering, inference of associative rules and inference of sequential patterns.

6th weeks

last week, we had mid-term test. and today we learned many things.the key point is People often interact with media technologies as though the technologies were people.related point is ethics, aesthetics , teleology and design.And we learned about the history of HCI.history of HCI as tools: people- for example, as we know, Vannevar Bush's memex. and Doug Engelbart's mouse, GUI, word processing, etc.learn to link them tightly with this thing called "the real", to think of them as unbreakable and natural linksto an absolute experience of physical phenomena.When digital media technologies connect or separate people, they become media.Technologies embody social, political, cultural, economic and philosophical ideas and relationships.Method that generate a useful critique of this moment is raised within that mighty architecture and so steeped in it that not only is it invisivle but we view with deep suspicion or outright derision ways of circumventing or fracturing its hegemony.Cyberspace doesn't turn out to be merely a distraction, an enery drain that turns our focus away from deeper changes in the working of capital, information and thought.The simple point of all this is that it's up to us. 3rd week topic is www. www is short for the world wide web.

www is a collaboratively authored hypertext.
www stand on the basis hypertext.so, www is easy dig for the information
and standard.
these days, www was used to the most famous internet use tool
but, if www was admiited as a standard, www is one of any other tools.
and then www was invented by Time berners-lee.
He has influence on development of internet technology.
Because, he made an offer free of charge that world wide web technology.
if he was www technology' use charged for, internet is impossible development the present.
And he belonged to the CERN(European Organization for Nuclear Research)'s researcher.
then, i learned about ISO,IETF,RFC and w3c
ISO(international standards organization),LETF(internet engineering task force),RFC(request for comments)
and w3c(world wide web consortium) admit as the www standards.
then, i also learned about URI(universal recource identifier).
URI is only one address show resource.
URI contain url, urn. and http, ftp, mailto are URI protocol.

This weekend learned about www.
It is very good.
I understand that www is so useful.

2nd Week

2nd week topic is Argumenting human intellect.
Englebart is invented a shape of computer such as a mouse, a keyboard and a monitor which are similar to computer of these days at first.
he is suggesting and telling people those reasons through this article.
He said that augmented one's intellect will help one to solve quite a few complex problems that one will face in the future.
And he said the computer has many other capabilities for manipulating and displaying information that can be of significant benefit to the human in nonmathematical processes of planning, organizing, studying, etc. Every person who does his thinking with symbolized concepts (whether in the form of the English language, pictographs, formal logic, or mathematics) should be able to benefit significantly.
I think that argument human intellect is equal thinking.
This class didn't understand well. But I will try understand this class

1st Week

1at week lecture is so difficult.
I think that technology is equipment that can develope society. 1st week, we learned about technology.
When digital media technologies connect or separate people, they become media.
And technologies embody social, political, cultural, economic, philosophical ideas and relationships. Egg white was used in art, when people of past did paint. It was media. Car connect many things. (example : place and other place). Also Car separate many things.(Example : in/out, wealthy/poor) Car is also media.
and Bush has been MIT professor or inventor of “differential analyzer” or science advisor to President F.D Roosevelt or leader of Manhattan project or founder of NSF. This readings is published Atlantic Monthly in July 1945.
Following is his thought. There are many research. These have been not made by independence. Also These have been involved each other. However method to accept each other is still the first step. Bush thought that scientist, men, girls, secretaries, calculators will use to Memex. Memex provide user ease to search data by demanding categories. It is similar to information retrieval and index to a book of nowadays. It is same to www’s hyperlink of today. Bush has thought it 60years ago.

My opinion.
1st class is so difficult. And English class is so hard. So I really learn English.
And I will learn this class and I advance my thinking and knowledge about technology and Media.
